Satellite Workshops
AXAA XRD/XRF Workshop for students
Sponsored by the Australian X-ray Analytical Association
Join us in person for the AXAA XRD/XRF Workshop, covering the theories and applications of these two popular characterisation techniques.
Research student delegates are recommended to join and prepare themselves with basic XRD and XRF knowledge before the main conference though this AXAA workshop. Join us in person to explore these commonly used characterisation techniques, ask questions, and connect to experts in the field. It’s a great chance to boost your skills and meet fellow science enthusiasts. Don’t miss out on this AXAA subsidized learning opportunity!
Venue: Adelaide Hill Convention Centre, Upper Level, South Room
Date & Time: Sunday 29 November 2026 (9:00 – 16:30)
Key Topics of XRD Workshop (Morning):
Demonstration of Rietveld refinements
Equations for diffraction peak positions, peak intensities, and peak widths
Choices of XRD geometries and common XRD applications
Geometric aberrations in Bragg-Brentano geometry
Penetration Depth and Average Information depth
